Do’s and don’ts at a youth exchange

DO…

  • Smile (start every day and every conversation with a smile)
  • Talk with every participant for at least 15 minutes (you can always learn something new from every person you encounter)
  •  Be friends with people who don’t speak your mother language, are not your age or don’t have the same opinions and interests as you do (that’s the only way you can grow as a person)
  •  Do something you’ve never done before (be brave, try new things, get out of your comfort zone
  • Lion by night, lion by day! (party and have fun but always show up for the sessions and workshops the next day)

DON’T

X   Don’t ask what is he topic of the youth exchange after 5 days of learning about it (every youth exchange has it’s own topic, respect the fact that you’re here firstly to learn about it)

X   Don’t waste your free time on sleeping (you will do that when you go back home)

X   Don’t be the first topic of the second day of exchange (don’t drink too much on the first night)

X    Don’t hook up with someone on the first day (leave your options open)

X   Whatever you do be sure not to make your organizers mad (cause they will quit their jobs, they will find you and they will hunt you down.
